Touch the Sky, Queens Kids Live!
Youth Performing Arts Workshop
ABOUT
The Touch the Sky, Queens Kids Live! Free Youth Performing Arts Workshop is a 20-week afterschool instructional arts and performance program, beginning on February 2, 2009. Open classes in movement, dance, theatre and cheerleading will conclude with a public performance In June. Students can enroll in the program until May.
The workshop is a collaborative community program presented by Queens Lutheran School and the Roberta Wells Conservatory for young people aged 6 and up. Workshop classes are taught by youth professionals and Conservatory teachers, Elizabeth Nunez and Tracie Spellman. The workshop space and administrative support is donated by the Queens Lutheran School through Mrs. Bettye Lee (Principal) and Mrs. Nina Hunt (Board of Directors). Classes are disciplined, safe and structured yet creative and fun. The Touch the Sky… workshop will give youth a solid introductory foundation in the arts, while learning performance and team building skills. The workshop is supported, in part, with public funds to the Roberta Wells Conservatory from City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
